Update February 22, 2007 !!!
Hi everyone!
Sorry for the delay in an update! I've been promising some of you some new pictures and I have a bunch to upload and will do so over the next day or so. I have photos of the quick and ongoing progress in the clearing and removal phase of the park's renovation and some photos of the county road crew re-paving Port Hudson Blvd on the north boundary of the park. Our new model in the Wetland section of the park is nearing completion but will be a few weeks before we can have power and working plumbing, so for now we're roughing it with extension cords and take out coffee! Oh the agony (you'll understand my mock-sarcasm when you see the photos of the stunning wetland views from our new model's deck! I once worked in a windowless office, as might some of you, so I really appreciate, and never tire of, the awesome views here at Hudson Springs).
We had a single manatee and a pair of dolphins in the spring today and last Sunday morning the same pair of dolphins were in the spring for nearly an hour. Mullet, snapper and needlefish where in the spring today along with shy ghost crabs at low tide that dart into their holes when we approach. This morning was one of my "I wish I had clones of myself" mornings with more people touring the park and viewing our model than I could keep up with! Fortunately Scott and Brad, the park owners, plus their father David and their grandfather Clarence (that makes three generations of Birdsells!) were working in the park and helped me with the overflow of visitors.
Expect a big spurt of construction in the next few weeks as we get the permits for a number of sites (ones that have sold) and start pouring concrete and building garages! We will also be completing a second model villa, this one is in the Waterfront section of the park. The newest model will feature an alternative floorplan with an even more open and airy design. The garage for this new model is already built and nearly complete, and soon we'll be able to place the modular home section and complete the deck. Ongoing conversion to new underground utilities (power and water for starters) is underway and progressing throughout the park.
We have a huge pile of concrete on the Hudson Ave side of the park, which is the remains of numerous old driveway and patio slabs from nearly every lot in the park. This pile of broken concrete slab pieces will be going away tomorrow (Friday) to be crushed into base-rock by a local concrete company and will be re-used, in its new form, as part of some new construction project in the area.
It's 9pm so I'm going to close this update for now and add a couple of teaser photos before I sign off for the night. I'll see you soon with the newest updates! In case your interested, its 54 degrees right now and we hit the 70's today! Tomorrow and the next day are supposed to be warmer.

Above: I wasn't kidding about the Wetland section's awesome views!

Above is a view of the park as you approach by boat on Hudson Creek. The Creek has excellent boating access to the Gulf of Mexico.

More of the view from the Wetland section!
