New Update! April 30, 2007

The block laying crew make quick work of constructing the garage structure on Lot 27. This Villa's garage, started just this morning, will be complete by midweek and ready for the arrival of the modular home on thursday! The block laying was finished today and the garage now looks complete but still needs additional reinforcement. This unit is adjacent to Hudson Creek and our boat dock and next to the now-occupied Villa on Lot 24.

The nearly complete garage structure on Lot 27 looks finished but still needs to be reinforced with vertical steel re-bar and concrete grout within the walls to complete the construction. After the modular home is set and hurricane strapped, the garage will be finished with stucco and painted to match the modular home's siding color. The attachment and finishing of the deck will be the last structural phase.

From inside the new garage, you can get just a hint of the view this location enjoys. Notice that the mortar is still wet! The opening to the right, only partially shown, is for the sliding glass door. The opening on the left will house a window. All garages also hve another, larger window and a single entry door, as well as the roll-up garage door. This garage's main door is 9ft high but we can also install a 10ft high door upon request.

A closer view of the new garage shows the hydrostatic vents and grout inspection ports in the lowest course of block. These are requirements of the waterfront building code.

Throughout the park we are installing new underground utilities and this is a shot of the third phase of this improvement, showing our new water pipes in the Wetland Section of the park (so-named because the lots in this section enjoy a view of the large wetland area. The water supply upgrade was an especially needed improvement as the existing plumbing, some of it perhaps 60 years old, was badly lacking in water pressure. The improvements we're making will not only make the park more beautiful by largely eliminating telephone poles and overhead wires, but will also minimize, and in some cases eliminate, maintenance issues for years to come. This undertaking will also upgrade the park infrastructure to modern codes and requirements.
Keep an eye out for updates to be coming more frequently as we are about to see a big increase in construction over the next weeks. I will post some pictures of the modular home raising on lot 27 and some unique interior features that were included at the request of the new owner. I'll leave you with a picture or two showing one of the things we do here in Hudson when we're not working at the park - FISHING! This is Brad (and his sister-in-law Sadie) showing off a beautiful keeper Spotted Sea Trout that he caught last weekend! We came home with 4 nice trout and enjoyed them on the grill that evening after crab dip and crackers to get our mouths watering! I Hope you're jealous!!!!!

Sadie says, "That was my fish, Brad was casting in my spot!"

Okay, so we don't always catch keepers. This little Sand Perch went back over the side so he can grow a little; perhaps we'll meet again :)
So long for now,
Sean.
